Efficient, Green and Funded: LEDs Lighting East Midlands Offices This 2023

If there was a solution to light your premises more effectively and efficiently, to help save the planet, as well as reduce your ongoing costs, would you like to know more? If switching over was also helped by generous grant funding sounds appealing, then please read on.

Just when commercial energy costs couldn’t get any higher, thankfully, help is at hand for East Midlands organisations wanting to increase productivity and save energy. However, these are just two of the many gains to be enjoyed from switching over to LED lighting, and with two grant funding schemes available to make switching over risk-free, read on to learn about the additional benefits and savings, and how to switch over to LED lighting this winter!

LED (light emitting diode) bulbs will bring almost all organisations benefits, compared to traditional lighting. The first and probably most obvious benefit is that LED bulbs light up to 90% more efficiently than “old-school”, or incandescent bulbs. LEDs use less energy in the process, too. LEDs are often classed as low-maintenance lighting, firstly, because they tend to last far longer than traditional bulbs, therefore, reducing overall maintenance costs. Smart office integration is another reason: LED lighting systems can be installed in conjunction with intelligent controls, such as sensors, and can be programmed and controlled using IT and other automation set-ups.

Although there are no statutory workplace lighting regulations in the UK, the legislation does exist relating to its usage at work. Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992: Section 8 stipulates that every workplace shall have suitable and sufficient lighting. Because of their reliability, LED lighting systems ensure that this regulation is comfortably surpassed.

Because lighting accounts for around 20 per cent of all energy costs, switching to LED is a sensible move for any business, especially when we take grant funding into account! Firstly, the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA) enables organisations to invest in energy-saving plant, including LED lighting, in the first year to set 100 per cent of assets against taxable profits!

Secondly, The Carbon Trust offers grants for LED Lighting of up to £5,000 for small to medium-sized businesses. In addition, an LED Lighting Government Grant could also provide £5,000 towards upgrading to a new system for warehouse and office buildings.
