This weekend, we have had one of our busiest with regard to callouts from new customers. With five in total, made up of two restaurants, two Landlords and a homeowner we have been kept busy and had some interesting issues to deal with.   The fist call came on Saturday around lunch time. A Chinese restaurant in Nottingham had suffered a fault within the kitchen general socket outlets circuit. The restaurant had customers booked in and most of the cooking appliances were plugged in to sockets on this circuit. Desperate for a remedy after trying a few things themselves the manager decided to call in the professionals. Our engineer arrived on site shortly after and began diagnosing the problem - an usual one on this occasion - the high amount of oils used to prepare food in these kitchens produces a lot of grease. The grease had managed to penetrate the insulation of the cables nearest the food prep area and was causing a fault. New cable, sealed and protected in PVC conduit, and some sealed moisture proof sockets were installed and the problem was solved and protected against this happening again in the future.   Next we were called to a couple of routine problems - a rental and privately owned property where we replaced a faulty RCD and diagnosed a loose/broken connection on a lighting circuit.   On Sunday we were to called to another rental property where the client had unfortunately caused damage to a cable in the wall when drilling to install their new TV on the wall.   Our last call out came from another restaurant, this time in Derby. The restaurant manager reported that their kitchen extract fans had stopped working - this is also linked to the gas supply system for the cooking area to ensure safety for the kitchen staff by shutting down the gas if the extractor system fails. Again this was a major problem for the restaurant which was full of customers waiting to eat. This time we found that an inverter drive unit - which allows control and greater efficiency when using motors - had burnt out. As new parts or repairs would be necessary it was agreed to bypass the inverter drive for now and get the new parts ordered and fitted next week.   So a busy weekend on call and a variety of issues - all rectified fully by our engineers.   Should you ever have an electrical problem and need to call out an electrician - give us a call on 01158 967 802 or visit our contact page for more ways to get in touch.
