The former mining village of Forest Town is on the fringes of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. After the coal mine closed back in 1988 the area referred to as The Avenues provided homes for local workers but has since been converted into a number of units making up an industrial estate.

The Church of St Alban’s suffered a major fire back in 1968 and has since be restored with it reopening its doors to the community of Forest Town a year later in 1969. Over the years it has seen a beautiful new stained-glass window and an organ dedicated by the Bishop of Southwell.

The football club AFC Mansfield was formed back in 2012, and they are based in Forest Town. The clubs nickname is “The Bulls” and in 2022 the team were transferred to the Premier Division North of the United Counties League.
