When you need to hang a picture, fix shelves or attach anything to the walls in your home or workplace, consider the possibility of any electrical cables being buried in the wall where you intend to drill or knock in nails FIRST. We are regularly called out to properties where the owner, or a tradesman carrying out some work has drilled through a cable as shown here: [caption id="attachment_2740" align="alignleft" width="300"]Electrical Cable Drilled Electrical Cable Drilled[/caption] Whilst generally this can be repaired without the need to rewire the circuit, it does mean chasing/digging out the plaster around the point of the fault to be able to complete the repair. There is also the issue that after the electrical repair is complete, the plaster must be made good and re-decorated. So a little thought is all it takes to avoid this costly and annoying repair.       Usually cables are ran in vertical or horizontal straight lines from the point of an electrical accessory (and up to 150mm either side/above below), such as a socket outlet or light switch, so these areas should be avoided - See image:   [caption id="attachment_2767" align="alignnone" width="531"]Areas of walls not to drill or bang in nails Electrical Safe Zones[/caption] If you have already made this mistake, or have any other problems with your electrics, call or contact Stator Electrical now - we are here to help!
