East Midlands Landlords: Is Your EICR Certificate Due For Renewal?

In their own words, The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) describes the need to check the condition of your electrics a little like having MOT for cars. It’s the organisation responsible for implementing and coordinating commercial landlord EICR reports. Every 5 years, landlords must arrange for an NICEIC-accredited electrical company to assess multiple aspects of their property’s electrics in order to provide all tenants with a valid EICR certificate.

As with faulty vehicles, faulty electrics pose a high risk, hence the government legislation. As an example, electrical faults are responsible for almost half of all UK domestic fires, and every year around 70 people are killed and a whopping circa 350,000 injured.

Stator Electrical Solutions Ltd is an established NICEIC-accredited specialist, and our team of engineers help professional landlords throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire to meet and exceed this legislation. Failure to present tenants with an up-to-date EICR certificate will result in a fine, it will invalidate certain insurance contracts and will damage the brand and reputation of any organisation.

An EICR report (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a relatively straightforward process for a qualified, experienced company like Stator. Our engineers will test all aspects of your property’s electrics and will present you with a report broken down into three key categories: C1 will indicate aspects of your electrics that present danger and that need immediate attention; Electrics graded as C2 means that there is a potential for danger. C2 aspects are regarded as urgent; C3 indicates that your property’s electrics pose no danger to those using it. However, there may well be recommendations for improvement.

Not only is Stator Electrical Solutions Ltd NICEIC-accredited, but all Stator Engineers receive regular up-training. Stator Electrical is part of the Part P Electrical Safety Scheme, a member of the CSCS scheme, part of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme, and is SSIP Safety Scheme in Procurement-registered. As well as our engineers being criminal-checked, Stator Electrical is part of the government’s TrustMark standards scheme, so you’ll be sure that you have the most reputable, trustworthy and professional personnel on your premises!

As mentioned, as well as posing risk to occupants and damage to your reputation, failure to provide a current EICR test can result in a huge fine of £30,000.
