A commercial EICR or Electrical Installation Condition Report is an extensive safety inspection of fixed electrical systems. This includes sockets, wiring, switches and the distribution board. A commercial EICR must be conducted by an approved electrician as an EICR is typically used to meet the requirements of The Electricity at Work Regulation 1989, typically for insurance purposes and confirmation of safe working conditions. A commercial EICR Derby costs between £230- £500 but this is dependent on the size of premises and number of circuits which need to be inspected. Stator Electrical Solutions are trusted and approved commercial electricians who can pretty much conduct an EICR in our sleep. The team is very thorough and meticulous when it comes to demonstrating electrical safety.
Back to top1) How useful is a commercial EICR in Derby?
An EICR is essential in helping commercial businesses create safe working conditions for all individuals at the premises. Electrical installations are typically concealed under flooring or behind walls so we can't really see if wiring is loose or if a circuit has become overloaded. This is why visual and electrical testing during an EICR are so important in flagging up electrical issues at the earliest opportunity. Stator Electrical Solutions were called to RTC Business Park, Derby as our client used one of the units for training purposes. We found a number of issues during the commercial EICR which includes overloaded radial circuits caused by kitchen appliances, overloaded circuits from high density desk setups and a number of discrepancies with the circuit charts on the distribution boards.
Back to top2) How often do I need a commercial EICR Derby?
High risk or public areas such as a leisure centre, petrol stations and theatres need an EICR annually. Factories and industrial premises should be inspected every 3 years. Retail spaces or offices such as the one at RTC Business park should have a commercial EICR Derby every 5 years or when occupancy changes. If you’re unsure of how often you need a commercial EICR, feel free to get in touch with one of the team as we would be happy to help. Keeping up your side of safety in the workplace is necessary as you could face hefty fines or legal action if you fail to provide a valid EICR.
Back to top3) Why are Stator Electrical Solutions the perfect candidate for a commercial EICR Derby?
The team is trained to complete all electrical work including specific visual and electrical testing during an EICR. As experienced commercial electricians, we’re very familiar with the increased electrical demands and complex electrical systems often found on site. We do our best to support our clients to achieve better electrical energy efficiency too so suggest improvements such as LED lighting or renewable systems such as solar panels.
We do more than just come in and conduct an EICR. If for any reason the EICR results in an "unsatisfactory" outcome, the team is well equipped and skilled at conducting remedial work to improve electrical safety at your business.
